Overview:
Asthma occurs when the airways of lungs become inflamed and constricted.
Signs and Symptoms:
Signs and symptoms of asthma range from minor wheezing to life-threatening asthma attacks. Common indications are Shortness of breath, Pain or tightness in the chest, reccuring chest infections such as flu's & colds.
Causes and Organs Affected:
ollutants and irritants such as smoke, Certain medications, including beta blockers, aspirin and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, Emotional stress & Allergic reactions to foods.
Risk Factor:
A family history of asthma, Recurring respiratory infections in childhood, Air pollution and sensitivity to chemicals etc.
Treatment:
Treatment for asthma generally involves avoiding the things that trigger asthma attacks. Medications normally used are Inhaled corticosteroids, Oral and intravenous corticosteroids, Ipratropium, Cromolyn and nedocromil, Theophylline etc
