Overview:
Athlete's foot is a fungal infection that develops in the moist areas between the toes other parts of the foot
Signs and Symptoms:
itching, stinging and burning; Cracking and peeling skin; Blisters; Excessive dryness of the skin on the bottoms or sides of the feet Disfigured toe nalis pulling away from the skin.
Causes and Organs Affected:
A fungi called dermatophytes causes athlete's foot. Athlete's foot is contagious.
Risk Factor:
More common in men with lower immune system; The infection can be caught from places like gyms, locker rooms, swimming pools, communal baths etc. Sharing objects such as clothes can spread infection. Wearning damp and dirty socks can act as a breeding ground for the fungi.
Treatment:
Over the counter pills & creams are available and the doctor can prescribe medication for severe conditions.
