Overview:
Boils are painful, pus-filled bumps that appear on the skin die to a bacterial infection of the hair follicles. Clusters of boils are referred to as carbuncles.
Signs and Symptoms:
Looks like bump normally pinkish / reddish in colour unless filled with pus. It may have a yellow-white tip. This may accompany with swelling and are extremely painful.
Causes and Organs Affected:
Usually caused by a staph bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. Staph bacteria that cause boils generally enter through a cut, scratch or other break in your skin
Risk Factor:
Weak immune system, hygiene, conatct with someone who has the infection; Underlying conditions such diabetes, acne & dermatitis
Treatment:
Boils can be drained by the doctor, big boils may cause scarring; Prescription of antibiotics.
