Overview:
Varicose veins are enlarged veins. Most commonly affected are those in your legs and feet as due to standing & walking increases the pressure in the veins.
Signs and Symptoms:
Veins that are dark purple or blue in color
and appear twisted / bulging. When painful symptoms occur may give pain, swelling, heaviness in lower legs.
Causes and Organs Affected:
Causes by the veins that lose elasticity causing them to stretch. The valves in the veins may become weak, allowing blood to flow backward. Blood accumalates in the veins& causes them to enlarge and become varicose. The veins appear blue because the deoxygenated blood.
Risk Factor:
Normally on people over 30, Women are more prone to it, Obesity & prolonged standing is a cause. Genes may play an important part
