Menstrual difficulties


Scanty periods - include the following in your diet: fresh grated beetroot, barley, green beans, lettuce, brown rice, soya beans and strawberries. Take 1 cup of chamomile or lemon balm tea 3 times daily
Heavy periods - include the following in your diet: carrots, ginger, lentils, parsley & fresh pineapple, avoid bread but include fibre such as oats, buckwheat & pulses.
Herbs that have a particularly good reputation for easing menstrual cramps include black cohosh, valerian, wild yam, yarrow, chamomile, and feverfew. Take decoctions or infusions of these and start drinking them a day or two before you expect cramps to start; take every two hours during the most acute phase.
